Escondido CA (March 26, 2009)Nema rider Jared Graves (Yeti / Fox Shox) dominated the 2009 Oceania MTB Championships this past weekend in Thredbo, New South Whales, Australia by pulling a double victory in both the 4X and downhill disciplines!
In the 4X, Graves was at ease on a fast and flowing track which included a variety of line options and gaps, albeit a bit on the short side.Racing wentreally smooth for Graves as he qualified 1st by a full second, then proceeded to win every lap all day with ease. I was in the final with 3 other BMX guys that all were riding well, so it was good fun, said Graves.
In the downhill competition, riders had a bit of an interesting finals as it had warm & sunny conditions all week. After qualifying first, in sunny conditions, the weather moved in.It quickly became cold, overcast & windy. As the last practice session began, the heavens opened and drenched the track.Luckily the rains stopped for the mens finals & Graves was able to put together a great run to take the win by 5 seconds!
I was pretty pumped toqualify 1st in both events, and back them up with winning when it counted as well exclaimed an excited Graves, it was a perfect weekend!
Graves is now in final preparation for an exciting start to the UCI World Cup season starting in just a few short weeks in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa!

This last weekend X-Fusion/Intense spent its first race of 2009 together as
a complete team. Saturday we drove down south not to far from our
headquarters in Campbell,CA to round 2 of the CCCX super D series in
Salinas, CA presented by X-Fusion Shox. The CCCX races are put on by Keith
DeFiebre, who most people know as the longtime creater of the Sea Otter
Slalom track. We were pumped to ride our brand new Intense Tracer VPP bikes
that our mechanic Mike Davis hustled to build the 2 days before the event.
We showed up Saturday and did some really good practice runs alltogether as
a team. For Kieran Bennett and Tyler Wilson this was the first time they got
to ride a grassroots nor cal track. Its not the most vertical terreign, but
the course layout flowed very well and we all enjoyed the days riding.
Sunday morning we got an early start and made our way back to the event. The
first person we saw when we got to the pits was Mark Weir.
This old guy immediately gave us some extra motivation to put down some good
runs. We got a good amount of practice Saturday so we all decided to just do
one run before the final. It had rained over night so the track became a lot
easier to hold lines although the headwinds were not so sweet for such a
pedalling track.
Fellow WTB rider Mark Weir took the win followed by Ryan Condrashoff in 2nd,
John Hauer in 3rd and Kieran Bennett 4th. X-Fusion/Intense took the 2-4
spots and since Weir decided to not stay for the podium, we took his money
too! Thanks for dinner Mark. This was a good event to see how our fitness
stands before entering the long international season ahead of us. Thanks to
Kieth for putting on a great event.

X-Fusion/Intense is proud to announce it will be working with rideSFO for the 2009 season. We have come together as sponsorship partners to help attack the lifestyle side of the mountain bike industry. Both X-Fusion/Intense and
rideSFO, a community and retail marketplace, have a strong tie in the Bay Area Cycling Scene that we wish to spread with the rest of the world. rideSFO’s commitment to an international cycling team shows that they are ready to expand their business and love of the sport outside of our bay area biking mecca.
rideSFO is also an up and coming cycling event company and having them backing our race team will not only help us with our serious racing program, but also help to spread our lifestyle and passion to the everyday cyclist. Their events such as the San Francisco Bicycle Expo bring out the culture of our sport and X-Fusion/Intense is looking forward to being involved for 2009.

SDG USA’s Bicycle Division is Purchased

From bicyclenewswire.com
Leading bicycle saddle maker SDG USA’s Bicycle Division has been acquired by its former General Manager for an undisclosed sum, the company announced today. Tyler Anspach, who has been with SDG for eight years, formed SDG Components LLC and the entity purchased the Bicycle Division’s inventory, intellectual property - including worldwide patents and trademarks. Anspach will serve as President of the Huntington Beach, CA-based enterprise.
SDG’s Motorsportsdivision will not be affected by the purchase of the Bicycle Division and SDG founder Jerome Mezzasalma will retain ownership of the Motorcycle Division.
“I’m really looking forward to building upon the brand’s foundation, 14 years in the marketplace,” Anspach said. “We have solid, long-term relationships with all our suppliers, distributors, teams and athletes, all who will be active in the product development realm as well.”
Anspach said that he and SDG Components management team is currently building an advisory board, comprised of product development specialists, athletes and bicycle industry veterans.
“Tyler has been a solid employee and lived the brand for the past eight years,” Mezzasalma said. “I know he’ll do everything in his power to maintain the standards that we’ve achieved and keep reaching for new technologies and innovations.”
SDG COMPONENTS are distributed in over 30 countries, including the following North American Distributors: Action Bicycle, BTI, Cyclone Bicycle, QBP in the United States and by Orange Sport Supply in Canada. SDG is a global leader in saddle technology, spec’ing OEM on major industry leading brands. SDG is renowned for developing the first Kevlar-covered saddle in the early ’90s and their latest innovation, the I-Beam, which has revolutionized the means by which a saddle affixes to an integrated post. The I-Beam relies on a single beam instead of rails, and the seat post clamp features a one-bolt adjustment.
Anspach also mentioned that the company will announce its elite-level mountain, road and BMX sponsorship roster within the next 2 weeks.
