When it comes to downhill history, Intense has most every manufacturer beat. 951 is not only their area code, but is also the name they chose to call their latest downhill bike. The 951 is a reflection of what Intense has learned with VPP technology and applied it here. The 951 is not designed to replace the M6, but is a downhill bike that shines in its own light. Last week Ryan Condrashoff was informed by doctors that the wrist injury he suffered at the US OPEN along with the broken collarbone is a lot more serious then initially expected. He has ligament and bone damage that needs to be surgically fixed leaving him out the rest of the season. We all were very bummed when hearing the news and wish Ryan the fastest and best possible recovery. Ryan’s personality and riding style will be missed by the entire team.
On a more positive note, Sean McClendon, better known as Griz will be joining the team to fill Ryan’s position for the remaining events in the 2009 season. Griz is a public figure in mountain biking and has been racing since Papa Bush. Many of you may know him as a former employee of Decline Magazine. We feel his positive energy and dedication to his racing will help keep team moral up and results coming.
Griz is one of the most Patriotic American Citizens we have ever met so when the chance came to ride an American made bicycle it didn’t take long to get the thumbs up. He will be riding both the Intense M6 Evo and the new 951. The remaining events this season include the last 3 would cup rounds, Crankworx, and some other select North American events.
Thanks again to all the sponsors for their continued support, and keep checking out the web videos from the X-Fusion/ Intense Team’s adventures and rides.
X-Fusion/ Intense wraps up their midseason Europe trip at the World Cup in Maribor, Slovania. Kieran Bennett now returns to New Zealand to train until he returns to North America to compete in the 2 Canadian WC’s and Crankworx. It has been rough for KB traveling without the support of his teammate Ryan Condrashoff, but Ryan is making a quick recovery and will be back with the team heading to National Champs. KB has had some big crashes in the past few weeks so he is happy to have a few weeks off to recover and head into the rest of the season healthy. X-Fusion/ Intense will be back on familiar soil on the next leg of our travels so look for more exciting race videos. In the meantime, here is KB in action at Maribor.
After Ryan Condrashoff was injured at the US Open, Kieran set off to Europe as the only rider for X-Fusion/ Intense. He had a few rough weekends, which shows just how tough racing DH at the international level can be. We are glad he is staying healthy and is able to travel to Maribor to collect himself and have a successful race weekend. Here is Theo’s footage from the last few weeks on the road.
X-Fusion/ Intense has been all around this summer riding bikes and making movies. Kieran, Tyler and John spent some time riding at Highland MTB Park before John flew back to California and Kieran and Tyler went to Blue Mountain, PA for a regional race.
